Hugs was started in Gothenburg, Sweden at the Big Love Gallery to provide a forum for improvised music in an open setting. Everyone was welcome to bring whatever instrument they wanted, acoustic or electric. Frequently there would be themes that would be loosely followed (such as to only use your mouth to make music), but nothing was rigid.
